OUR MISSION

The purpose of the Volunteer Transportation Center Foundation, Inc. is to ensure the long-term financial stability of the Volunteer Transportation Center, Inc. This will be done by raising money through fundraising efforts, charitable solicitation, bequests and other sources to support the mission, vision and operations of the Volunteer Transportation Center, Inc., and no other entity.

OUR STORY

The Volunteer Transportation Center Foundation, Inc. was established in 2018 and formally received its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in 2021. As our mission states, the sole purpose of the foundation is to ensure the long-term financial stability of the Volunteer Transportation Center, Inc.

Those who have historically made donations to the Volunteer Transportation Center may now make their donations to the
Volunteer Transportation Center Foundation, knowing their contributions continue to providing charitable transportation for people in need in the communities we serve.

WHY IS OUR MISSION IMPORTANT?

The Volunteer Transportation Center Foundation strives to support the great work of the Volunteer Transportation Center, which provides essential rides to health, social, and other destinations free of charge for residents of Northern New York who have no transportation alternatives.

The service the Volunteer Transportation Center provides is free to those we transport and the cost of which is covered, in many instances, by insurance providers and contracts the VTC has with various agencies. However, those the VTC transports who don’t fall under one of these categories are provided transportation through fundraisers we host and the generosity of donors like you!

In 2023, volunteer drivers provided 25,314 charitable trips over 855,471 miles in Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence Counties. Of those miles, 329,819 helped those in Jefferson County, 101,766 in Lewis County, and 423,886 in St. Lawrence County. That equated to approximately $427,736 in mileage reimbursement for our volunteers.

That’s why the community’s help is so important.

HOW CAN I HELP?

Donations are a huge help to making our mission successful. Don’t think you can make a difference? Every dollar we receive provides TWO miles of transportation to folks in need. A $5 donation provides 10 miles, a $20 donation provides 40 miles, and so on. So, regardless of the amount you’re able to give, you CAN make a difference!

Donations may be made through to our ongoing “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” campaign through our secure checkout link HERE.
