The 15th Annual North Country Chili Cook-Off, hosted by the Jefferson County American Legion Auxiliary, will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Dulles State Office Building. H&R Block will be a $2,500 Underwriting Sponsor. The $2,500 donation to the Volunteer Transportation Center translates into 5,618 miles of transportation for veterans and their families to medical appointments and other essential appointments.

Stewart’s Shops recently donated $2,500 to the Volunteer Transportation Center making them an Underwriting Sponsor of the 15th Annual North Country Chili Cook-Off. The Annual Chili Cook-Off, hosted by the Jefferson County American Legion Auxiliary, will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Dulles State Office Building. All monies raised at this event will help cover the mileage expenses for volunteer drivers transporting veterans and their families to medical appointments and other essential appointments. The $2,500 donation translates into 5,618 miles of transportation.

For the 2nd year, Renzi Foodservice is an Underwriting Sponsor of the Annual North Country Chili Cook-Off, which will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Dulles State Office Building. The Northern New York Corvette Club, sponsored by Davidson Auto Group, has donated $500 to the Volunteer Transportation Center. These monies will be used to support the transportation of veterans and their family members who need rides to medical appointments. $500 translates into 1,124 miles driven by our volunteer drivers.

Fidelis Care Sponsors 50 Bird Shoot for Volunteer Transportation Center

Fidelis Care was a $250 sponsor for the 50 Bird Shoot that was hosted by the Carthage Rod and Gun Club on Saturday, September 7, 2013. All proceeds from the event were donated to the Volunteer Transportation Center. The Volunteer Transportation Center, with volunteer drivers, provides transportation for individuals who have no other means of transportation to medical appointments and grocery shopping. The proceeds will help cover mileage expenses for volunteer drivers.

Chili Cook-Off Committee plans for the 15th Annual North Country Chili Cook-Off

The CCO Planning Committee has begun plans for the 15th Annual North Country Chili Cook-Off. Once again, the Jefferson County American Legion Auxiliary will host the event and all proceeds will be given to the Volunteer Transportation Center. In 2013, $35,000 was raised. The committee set February 1, 2014 as the date of the 15th Annual Chili Cook-Off at the Dulles State Office Building. Pictured below are some of the committee members.

The Watertown Lions Club

The Watertown Lions Club presented a $500 check to the Volunteer Transportation Center. These monies will be used to support Project Wings. This program is a partnership between The Lions, AFBVI and the Volunteer Transportation Center. Project Wings provides critical needs transportation (mostly medical) for visually impaired North Country residents who cannot drive their own vehicles. The Volunteer Transportation Center is the only means available to these clients to maintain a portion of their independence. In 2012, 431 trips were performed by our volunteer drivers for Project Wings clients. This equals 8,447 total miles served at a cost of $4,857.

Fundraising Event at Chipotle Mexican Grill

On May 9th, 50% of all proceeds between 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Chipotle Mexican Grill were donated to the Volunteer Transportation Center. These monies and those raised at other fundraising events will help cover mileage expenses for volunteer drivers transporting individuals who have no means of transportation to medical appointments and grocery shopping. In 2012, 10,743 trips were provided. This translates into 336,808 miles driven with 19,163 volunteer hours.

The Volunteer Transportation Center received a donation of $1,061 from Nephrology Associates of Watertown PC, which was matched with an equal donation from Dr. Khalid Sindhu, Nephrology Associates, for a total of $2,122. These monies will help cover mileage expenses for volunteer drivers transporting veterans and their families to medical appointments.
